The Solarize Campaign
In the summer of 2019, Green Springville spearheaded a community campaign designed to increase the adoption of residential solar panels. Following the NYSERDA framework, Green Springville recruited the towns of Concord, Colden, Sardinia, Eden and Evans to participate in the Solarize event. Using a competitive bidding process to secure the lowest price for solar panels, Solar by CIR was selected to travel throughout the Southtowns with Green Springville to promote this campaign.
Hosting open houses and attending community events, both Solar by CIR and Green Springville answered resident’s questions on the details of putting solar panels on their property. As a result of this campaign, 33 families installed over 300kW of solar panels that are lowering their monthly electric bills. This represented an investment of over $375,000 in clean energy supporting the local grid. Green Springville’s President and Solarize Project Manager, Reed Braman, was awarded the 2020 Erie County Environmental Management Council’s Environmental Excellence Award.
